mondays' wha-what!!

So, in a moment of weakness I bought knit miniatures of our chickens, Henrietta (white) & 3 red hens (Sarah, Lacey, & Ivy--eldest first of course) as named by Drew**

You'll notice mamma4earth's chicks in my Etsy favorites list on the side, but you should know that she custom made 3 New Hampshire Reds & 1 Leghorn to match our very own "flock" & we ordered just over a week ago. LOVE them...I don't remember whose sight I saw her on, but they're adorable & actually feel very durable. which also led me to another great blog (that You Know How We're An Art Family already knows about...man-great taste lady!)

& what looks like an egg gathering basket is now a chicken roost!

here's a pic of 2 hens on Sunday when they really were free-ranging for a few hours. You can see how big they're getting. Henrietta is smaller, but much faster & escapier...

Other things of Monday:

strawberries picked from our patch yesterday were a great lunchtime dessert

**if you don't already know, these are me & my 2 sisters names...

makes me happy

There are little things throughout the house that are sort of everyday & they make me happy.

vintage dish towels

Another one:
In ceiling & outdoor speakers that hook up to our computer making the soundtrack of my life possible. (& of course my installer)

Actually I got it made.

It's taken me a while, but I finally sewed together the pieces of the Red Riding Hood hat I downsized for Lebo. It's totally out of season, but unlike the children of human variety around here, I expect it will fit when the seasons dutifully change again. & Of course, it's not as fantastic as the Waldorf Mama aviator hats, but maybe I'll try that pattern next.

I also finished up some shoes for Leviah as she outgrew her last pair...who knew 7months would come and go so swiftly. I swear it's like a time warp each morning--I wake up anticipating the next development in both my girls. From teething to reading, it's all I can do to even notice, let alone stay on top of their progress. So I pray I don't fail them or miss possibilities. How do I choose which outlets to nurture? Their horizons are so vast...

a morning "out"

I had this thought about doing "school" work with Naomi. She hates sitting still & despises following my direction. So, I thought maybe I'd encourage distractions & hope she'd follow my lead instead...so, we looked & drew. No fancy paints, or sparkles--just pencil & paper & a gentle breeze. (oh, and refreshments of course: dad's homemade pretzels and Emergen C)
