Drew & I became involved with this Community Garden about 2 months ago. We'd been hoping to start one near our home, but were asked to help get this one "motivated".
We're hardly experts, but we love to be outside & experimenting in the dirt. We've had a lot of success with our own backyard garden & are thrilled at the thought of helping others achieve the satisfaction of eating their own vine-ripened produce...
The garden is right next to a playground, which works out great for when the kiddos get bored! & the Vaughn's joined us for a little time outside this afternoon.
Amazingly, we hadn't stopped by in about 4 weeks, but the seeds we planted have taken off! We have quite a bit of lettuce, spinach, carrots, etc. that might yield us a reasonable fall crop. These are things we didn't even bother with in our home garden this year!
We're hoping to get more of the gardener's active and raring to go out here. The neighborhood could use some inspiration, & the veggies grown here could really go to good use. If you have a suggestion for how to make this garden more successful, please offer it up!
