A few days ago we had folks over to swap diapers. Exciting, no?! It actually was pretty enlightening. There is a whole cloth-diaper lingo that one can't possibly understand or even hope to, in one day. Pockets, AIO's, OS's, prefolds, cotton, hemp, microfiber, woolies, longies, shorties, fitteds, covers, snappis, and on goes the list...
While we cloth diapered Leviah, we really didn't explore a lot of different types of diapers and I'm still pretty clueless when it comes to all the ins & outs. I know Drew is comfortable with pockets and that's pretty much what we stuck with.
This time around I'm trying to clean up our 'stash'. In other words, I'm trying to slip into the world of all natural fabrics. I'm drawn to the cotton, hemp, wool, bamboo, and particularly any of that paired with velour. So soft and appealing. Why aren't there more velour underwear alternatives for adults?
Anyway, I'm here to talk about our snack food. Biscuits topped with homemade apple or pumpkin butter. They were yeasty biscuits a-la the following 'recipe' from my mom. There are blanks you're going to have to fill in with instinct, but I doubt anything would keep them from tasting delightful.
Mom's Yeasty Biscuit 'Recipe'
2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1 tsp salt
2 tsps. yeast
1 egg
Enough buttermilk to form a fairly solid ball--don't over mix.
Dissolve the yeast it warm water.
So, cut the butter into the flour, salt and sugar. When that's somewhat uniform in texture, add the egg and yeast mixture, then knead by knead the buttermilk. Ours took about 1/2 cup of buttermilk. Remember--don't over mix.
Bake for about 12 minutes at 350degrees (although, keep your eye on them, all ovens are different!)

Enter Lebo & her dimply bum
Naomi has been blessed with a new arrival, Lebo, from her Savta (paternal grandma). Savta is a top-notch sewer & MADE this beautiful Waldorf style Doll that Naomi loves. She goes everywhere with her, from restaurants & dance class, to memorial services & the grocery store, & of course--to sleep. Having had loads of practice making dolls, Savta is an artist & not only sculpted adorably simple facial features, but a dimply bum & newborn belly button. Don't forget the "cloth" diapers (extras on the way). Lebo has been the perfect remedy for one big sister who wants desparately to put her newly learned nurturing skills to work.
Her name-- Lebo
(derivative of "LeeLee"--nickname for little sister)
Her bottom--masterfully dimpled
Her cheeks--"naturally" pink
Her skin--0rganic cotton
Her size--perfectly preemie
Her Hair--comb-able mohair
**'Savta' will take orders soon as she LOVES making these loved babes, and we're working on a "party" in which mums can come & create the perfect doll for their own child. If you're interested, let me know!
