Keeping Well and This is How We Do It...

I'm not a global expert. I'm a local expert, and by local I mean in my own home. But, people often ask me what we do for illness. Most folks who know me know I don't love doctors. It has nothing to do with bedside manor, or fear, just that I don't believe in what they're selling. It's just my opinion really, based on all the life experiences I've had and witnessed. Modern Meds are still in their infancy compared to the many ancient healing techniques now treated like voodoo. Can meds work? Sure. Can they be Risky? Ineffective? Expensive? Devastating? Yep. They can. And, more often than not they come riddled with a looooong list of tiny words at the bottom of the screen (aka side effects) that require some other med to be tolerable. I don't like it. I also think the angle of the modern med world is skewed.**

My body is not a lemon--Ina May Gaskin says so. And, my body, if it's healthy can heal itself. Some people call them miracles when this happens, and ultimately it is. Our bodies are MI. RA. CU. LOUS. They do all the work, they do all the healing--if they're healthy. They were expertly designed to co-exist in this world of germs. No amount of meds can heal someone who's body is unhealthy. They may temporarily hide the symptoms of unwellness, but let me repeat, they will not heal an unhealthy body.

I just saw this quote on this blog:
"We all know that colds are caused by cold viruses, spread through contact with others infected with them.
But you don’t get a cold because you’re around snotty-nosed kids who have colds. You get them because your immune system is impaired and unable to fend off the attack of the virus. Exposure to the virus itself doesn’t mean that getting the cold is inevitable."

Blog: as an Adjective

I've never liked the word blog as a noun. It's everywhere & I have learned to embrace what it stands for, but I can never tell someone I keep a blog without feeling like I'm admitting something dreadfully embarrassing. Not to mention how it sounds; the word falls out of my mouth like a frog's tongue shooting out for a bug. So what then? e-journal? cyber-diary? online notebook?

As I contemplate I'm hovering over a mug of steamy vinegar water in hopes of alleviating the pain of a sinus infection. The pain of which is far more than the dull piercing in my right cheek, but the incapability of being an effective mother, wife, or really human being in general. I'm in a fog mentally; physically my nose is raw from the 4 rolls of toilet paper deemed kleenex & the fountain of a substance you'd prefer me not to describe is really starting to gross me out.

So, B-L-A-H-G. that's what it is. blahg. I write here to report something we've accomplished and this is what I have to report. My poor children are surviving, but are stir-crazy & starving for brain food. My husband is working his own job, & mine. & I am blahg.

From what I've read these types of ailments can go on for a while. It's difficult not to cry when thinking about this, but I'm trying to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Everyday I wake up & think, 'surely there will be a day when I awake & don't immediately reach for the TP at my bedside, or the ibuprofen for the pain.' This thought spurs me to get through each day (ungracefully, to say the least). I'm not dying of this, my life is generally terrific. It simply amazes me at how my soul cries when my body ails me. It may sound dramatic, but blahg.

In summary, however, the sun is shining & I hear tell of 60degree weather this weekend. All around spring is coming, regardless of uninvited snowfalls & freezing temperatures.
The bulbs emerge:
The forget-me-nots blossom (my favorite flower, so you know):
forget me nots

And my sinus cavity will drain & heal before I perish...

I'm avoiding antibiotics. I'm on a steady regimen of horse radish eating, neti-pot using, vinegar water drinking, colloidal silver sniffing & steamy shower taking. Any other recommendations for this condition?
